This will be an all day ride highlighting both the canyon country and the higher ridges of the Cathedral Bluffs. Plan on an early start as the low country can be mighty hot this time of year. Plan to take plenty of water and to be self sufficient as far as flat tires and minor maintenance. Little to no cell service first half of the day. This will be a dirt road/two track ride with some sand.
GPX tracks will be available and will be laid out roughly as below.
Meeker to Elk Springs via Crooked Wash,
Elk Springs to Echo Park via bench road,
Echo Park to Dinosaur via park roads
Dinosaur to Rangely via dirt county roads,
Rangely to Meeker via dirt to Calamity ridge, Cathedral Bluffs, Black Sulfur creek road and CR 13.
Big bike friendly. Long day of hauling ass. NOT wet friendly. Afternoon will be up high to beat the heat.
140 mile range should easily cover this ride.
Think about gas station hand food and snacks for the eating plan. Have a good meal in Meeker later.
Several slab, bail options should weather/fatigue get the best of anyone.
