Big Bike Friendly (North)

Going Clockwise:
You will leave the town of Meeker and head Northeast where you will make a turn onto road 15. This will turn to graded dirt and go up to Yellow Jacket pass. It's a scenic ride to Yellow Jacket.

When you get to the turn off, there is a parking area (Trail Head) with a map and sign for the USFS. Feel free to regroup and read the signs.

As you head East the route will become more unimproved. Expect ruts, mud holes, and roots. You will be riding in the trees and from time to time have some great views.

You will be crossing a few streams (check out our videos), they can be deep depending on the year and the snow melt.

*Check out our videos on each trail in the 'Wagon Wheel Trail System'

Feel free to explore more then the GPX tracks, just be cautious and obey all USFS signs. Trails can turn very hard in no time and rocky in this northern area.

If Wet:
Trails in Colorado and in the West in general can become very very hard to ride if it has rained as the ground turns into a slick type of snot that just sticks to everything. Expect to slide, and not have good traction (road tires wouldn't be advised if it has rained, I would recommend TK80, D606 style of tires).

If Dry:
You will still come across some muddy spots and the route will have ruts. Any difficulty spots are short and you might need to help others in your group to get through them. The water crossings will provide for some awesome pictures.

This route was designed for the BMW GS, KTM 950+, Triumph Tigers, and other large Adventure bikes. Designing a route knowing YOUR skill level, and your particular bikes ability is hard and thus you need to always be making decisions for yourself if you can push on or need to turn around. There is no shame in turning around.
